Modern house facades – how to easily change the appearance of a building

Thanks to modern and stylish decorative materials you can change the appearance of your house facade yourself. It is enough to use a decorative stone, concrete slabs or e.g. brick imitating tiles.

Modern facades are made of a combination of patterns and colours, which allows, for example, to use tiles only on a part of a wall. Most often only selected elements of a house are finished this way, such as walls, pillars, recesses, cracks, front door lining, parts of walls by the stairs and landings. Façade tiles are also suitable for cladding plinths or windowsills.

Concrete house facades and more

Large concrete slabs (so-called architectural concrete) are often used on the facades of modern residential and office buildings. This gives them a modernist and minimalist look. Concrete elements go well with windows and glass elements, as well as all kinds of plants. Incana offers products in the 64 cm by 37 cm format (Concerto Natural) and smaller – 54.5 cm by 10.8 cm (Grand, Metro and Stripe). The Concerto Natural decorative tiles are made of raw concrete and their classic design allows for interior and façade arrangement in virtually any architectural style. The Grand Natural range are long panels for indoor and outdoor use, and are ideal for all those who love minimalist arrangements. The Metro and the Stripe ranges feature pores and pits characteristic for concrete structures.

Timeless brick on a modern house facade

For finishing the facade of your house, you can also use materials imitating the classical brick. This timeless design will give a building an attractive appearance, with a loft-like character. These types of materials can be used on an entire wall or only to bring up selected elements. Incana offers many brick-imitating materials, including e.g. the Arnhem Rosso decorative and façade tiles. Their dark red colour and irregular texture will surely be an eye-catcher, so it is worthwhile to additionally consider using e.g. elegant illumination of the facade.

From grey to copper – a decorative stone facade

Decorative stone is a material which is willingly used for finishing external walls in a style inspired by modernist and traditional architecture. These concrete tiles imitating various rock textures are available in many designs and colours, which is why they offer so many arrangement possibilities. Among the Incana products you will find the Hudson tiles featuring a rough and heterogeneous texture, giving them a raw and natural character. These products are available in three colour versions – from neutral grey (Natural), through to volcanic (Volcano) and copper (Copper).

What to keep in mind when planning a new house facade?

When seeking a good solution to finish the facade of your house you should make sure that the materials you choose offer high resistance to frost and other weather conditions (rain, high temperatures, etc.). Using the Incana products, you can finish your facade by yourself. However, it is worth to get to know the basic principles of tile installation and to prepare the appropriate tools (a level, a wire brush and a toothed trowel for adhesive application, a diamond blade for cutting concrete), as well as to use the iNCANA highly flexible and frost-resistant adhesive Before you start, you should take all the tiles out of the packaging and place them on the ground in the right pattern – this is important because the individual elements differ in shades, which gives them a natural look. When installing the tiles, you should make sure to wipe each of them with a wire brush on the side where you are going to apply the adhesive – this will ensure their better adhesion to the wall. During operation, the air temperature should be between 5 and 25 degrees Celsius. The tile surface should not be exposed to strong sunlight or rain until the adhesive has dried. After about two weeks it is recommended to impregnate the tiles with a special agent, also available from Incana – impregnating agent
